Dutch Oven Dinner

For Labor Day this year we went up Monroe Canyon and had a dutch oven dinner. We also did this last year at the end of September. It was so much fun. We went with the Demille's, Thalman's, and the Waters. We had the yummiest food. The Thalman's made cheese dutch oven potatoes, Chicken was brought by the Demilles, and the waters brought a pasta salad. We brought the cherry cobbler. It was all so good. Marie gave me the recipe for the cobbler. I have never been a big fan of cobbler, but this was amazing. I wish that I had made two dutch ovens full because it went so fast. We also roasted marshmallows and made smore's. The kids all loved the marshmallows.

While we were cooking the food we played a game the Demille's brought. It was way fun. I can't remember what it was called though. The Thalman's and Demille's were a team and we were with the Waters. We were doing so bad in the beginning, but came out on top as the winners.

The kids had such a fun time exploring around our little site, and Brent to Erica on a couple of adventure walks.

I hope that this becomes a fun tradition that continues to go on years from now. Thanks to Ashley Demille for getting it all put together this year.

  1. Ah, Richfield. Sounds like so much fun!!! Funny to hear about people I probably went to school with. Glad you had a good time in the mountains (we have to drive for hours to get to the mountains, but minutes from the coast).
