Cookie Monster Birthday

The Birthday Cake.  I'm so happy with the way it turned out.  I put a layer of chocolate chip cookies in the middle with some frosting to hold it together.  It was really good cake.
Derek blowing out his candle with some help from Erica, Jackson, and cousin's.
He was not afraid to dig right in to his cake.  Erica and Jackson both cried when they saw their cakes.  They would not touch them.
Great G&G:  New PJ's and a board book
Mom & Dad:  New pants
Erica & Jackson:  Cookie Monster
G&G Kenney: Ball Popping Dinosaur
Walser Family:  New Shirt and Pants
Nana & Grandpa Davis: Cute bear quilt and clothes (sent in the mail)
Thanks so much for all the wonderful gifts.  He loves them all.

(Derek after just waking up on his Birthday)

Guess who turned One today!  DEREK!!!
I can't believe it.  This year went by so fast.  I remember when Erica turned one and how that first year went by so slow.  Jackson's first year went a little faster.
He cut his 7th took a couple weeks ago.  He now has four teeth on top and three on the bottom.
He is either really happy and laughing all the time or he is upset and screeching at you.  Sometimes its hard to tell if he is laughing for screaming.  If you can't see his face it's really hard to tell because the laughing and screaming sound the same.  At the end of October he took five steps in a row to me.  At 11 1/2 months he starting walking all the time.  He has started walking so much sooner than Erica and Jackson.  They weren't that far behind him though.
He loves to play peek-a-boo.  The other day he was standing my the stairs.  He would hide on the stairs and then turn his head around the corning when I said "were is Derek".  He has the biggest, cutest grin.  He also loves to play peek-a-boo with his blanket when he is going to bed.
He is starting to carry his blanket around.  He likes to bring it with him after he takes a nap.  It's so funny how all of are kids are so attached to their blankets.  He is just like Erica and Jackson.  When he has a hold of his blanket he likes to suck on his two middle fingers on his left hand.
Tonight we are having a Cookie Monster birthday party for him.  Grandparent's and cousins are all coming.  I can't wait.  It's going to be so cute.

Brent's Mom flew out to take care of her Mother for the month of September.  Since Grandma was going down heal we decided that we needed to go up and see her and Grandpa.  I wanted to make sure that Brent was able to say his good byes before she was gone.  The kids were so good.  They all gave Grandma a kiss and a huge.  They also loved playing with their Nana.  I'm so grateful to have know this wonderful women.  I'm just in awe of how she lived her life and raised her family.  I hope that she is on the other side giving me the guidance along with Heavenly Father to help me raise our kids.  Brent and I are so grateful to have the knowledge that we will see her again and be with other family members who have gone before us.
We all love you Grandma.
