Weight: 16lbs 57%

Derek is five months today. So crazy. He has grown so much. About 2 weeks ago I got out all of the 3-6month clothes and I already have to put them away because he fits in the 6 month clothes now. He is watching everything. His eyes follow me around the room. He loves to grab at everything now. Eating and sitting with him on my lap is no longer the greatest experience. I'm constantly trying to keep the food and plate out of reach so that it doesn't end up on the floor. He wants to put everything in his mouth. When I'm eating he watches very closely. He is very interested in food and wants it for himself. Tonight I made some cookies and he loved licking them. I know I'm a bad mom for giving it to him but you just couldn't say no if you saw that face. He would lick the cookie for a while and then look up at my face with the biggest gin and sparkling eyes. He loves to eat applesauce with rice cereal too. I tried just the rice cereal and he was okay with it, but when it has applesauce its the greatest thing in the world. Last night he slept though the night for the first time. I'm not holding my breath, but I wouldn't mind if this became a trend.

Playing Pretend

This is the conversation Erica and I had this morning. I could hear Jackson crying hysterically and wanted to know what was going on.

Mom: "Erica what are you and Jackson doing."

Erica: "I''m playing house. I'm the Mom, You are the store helper,
and Jackson is the crying baby."

Game of Bridge Anyone!?

Spring Dress, Rice Cereal, First Day of School

This is the spring dress that I made for Erica. She was so happy with it. A couple of weeks ago we went on a girls trip to Walmart and she picked out the material and the dress pattern. A couple of days ago I finally got out the pattern and put it all together.

Derek's first time eating rice cereal. Doesn't that face just say it all. He loves to eat and eat and eat. When I took him in for is well check he weighed 16lbs. The doctor said that I should start feeding him Cereal because he is such a big boy. We went right home and did just that.

Jackson's first day of school!
Crazy I know. This kid is so smart. Yesterday was his first day and the SUU Early Intervention. We are hoping that this class will help him with his speech. He is always talking to us but he has his own little language. He is starting to say so much more though. The other day he was watching his dad leave for work and told me "Da Go". It was so cute.

Morning Time

This morning was so much fun with Erica and Jackson. Brent left for work and then the kids came running to our room and jumped in bed with me. We cuddled for a little while and then started to play peek-a-boo. The kids would hide under the covers and then pop out. Then we all were under the covers and playing around. It was so much fun to see them laughing and smiling. Then we started a tickle war. I won of course. They love to have me sing this song we made up, "I'm a daddy long leg". You wiggle your fingers and crawl them towards the kid and then it tickles them. We did that forever. It was a really enjoyable morning and made the day start in a really good way.

Over the weekend

Brent and I and the kids all had a really fun weekend together. Saturday we drove up to Provo. I was such a long drive compared to the hour and a half drive it would take from Richfield. Thank goodness our kids have always been good travelers. They watched "The Little Mermaid" and "Bolt" on the way up. We stopped at my sister Marie's house in Springville and unpacked and hung out with them for about an hour until 2:30 and then headed to Alpine for Grandpa Farnsworth's 90th birthday party. We had dinner and Cake and talked with family. Later some of the kids went for a swim in Brent's aunts indoor pool. Erica kept telling me that she was sad because she forgot her swim suit (I had packed everyone's swim suit but I didn't want to get in unless the hot tube was working). So we went in to look and see and they had just bought a new hot tube. So I told Erica that we had swim suits and she got so excited. Erica, Jackson, and I got in the Hot Tube and Nancy, Brent and Derek sat on some chairs to watch the kids. We swam for about an hour and then got ready to go. We said goodbye to everyone who was still there and then Headed to see Nicole and Adam Wipple (Some friends from the Married ward in Cedar who now live in Orem). We got to their house around 7:30pm and talked with them for a while. It was really good to see them. After leaving their house we went back to Marie and Dan's house for the night. We got all the kids down and then the four of us went down stairs to make Ice cream shakes. They were so good. Marie just bought a Ninja blender. I want one. They made that shake in less than 30 seconds, it was so fast. Then we watched some "Arested Development." Brent had never seen it. I went to bed a little earlier than everyone else.

Sunday morning Erica came in and announced that it was morning time around 7:00am. I took her and Jackson down stairs for breakfast. Then Erica and I got ready to go to Church with Marie and Dan. Brent had forgotten his church clothes and so he stayed back with the boys. after Church we went to see Nancy before we had to leave to go home. So we drove to Highland and had lunch and played games for a few hours. Then we went to Pleasant Grove to see Lola Bento (A nice lady from Brent's mission). We always try to go and visit her when we get up North. We stayed and had some dinner with her and her son Joe. Erica and Jackson and Derek all did so well. It was really fun to see the Bento's. The last time we saw them Jackson was Derek's age. We just hadn't been able to get to her house in two years. I couldn't believe that it had been that long. At around 4:00pm we started driving home. We had to do a lot of stops to fill up the car and then to let Erica us the restroom in Beaver.

It was a really fun trip. We were able to get lots of visiting, but Brent and I were so tired when we got home.

At the beginning of March we had a really nice warm day. Erica and Jackson played outside for so long. Some neighbor girls from across the street were out playing with their dog and brought it over for Erica and Jackson to play with. It was so much fun to watch them all playing together and interacting with the cute dog.

Brent has been framing in the Basement. Jackson is always his shadow and little helper. One night I came down stairs to see how things were coming along and found Jackson working really hard with the extra blocks of wood. He was having so much fun with I had to take a picture.
